Al & Friends

The mission of Al & Friends is to provide hot, wholesome, and nutritious meals to the community's most vulnerable residents. For the past 12 years, Chef Al Siekert and his volunteers have served a brunch-style breakfast every Sunday. All are welcome with no questions asked.

The meal is served every Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to around 9:30 a.m., rain or shine, at Window on the Bay Park, located along the bike path (across from McDonald's) at 717 Del Monte Ave, Monterey, CA 93940.

Here's what people are saying about Al & Friends...

“Al is one of the kindest people I have ever met in my life. He has helped me so much over the years. He calls me Patty Cake. Whenever I need a little extra help, he is always there for me. I can always count on Al. His Sunday morning meals are amazing. Even though I have found permanent housing, I still come back every Sunday morning just to help out. The world needs more people like Al.” -- Patricia B.

“I first met Al about 8 years ago. I had heard about Al & Friends from someone. Being housing insecure, I have been to a lot of the local church organizations who serve meals to the homeless community. They are great and I really do appreciate it and all but they serve the same food over and over again. The first time I ever went to the Al & Friends breakfast I was blown away at all the different hot meals and salads. They cook the meals right there on the beach! I have gotten to know Al personally over the years and I am so honored to know him. I consider him one of the finest people I’ve met.” -- Oscar S.

Al & Friends Continues To Go Green

Al & Friends is transitioning to serving reusable metal forks, plates, water bottles and cloth bags even for takeaway food items. With the help of Sustainable Monterey County, Al & Friends is going green with their service of hot, nutritious meals to the hungry in our community. Emerging from COVID practices of wasteful take-out containers and service items, Al & Friends guests/diners are encouraged to keep items (e.g. bottles, bags, etc.) for their own multiple reuse and to bring them back weekly, or to put in our bus bins to have washed for the following week's meal.
